Chocolate Noels

Noels are another of our traditional Christmas cookie plate confections.  They are a~”I wonder what makes them so good?”~type of treat.  Although they are not the most impressive looking sweet, our plate would not be complete without them.

Chocolate Noels

One cup unsalted butter (only real butter, here, please)

2 large milk chocolate bars with almonds (3.5-4 oz)

2 1/2 cups quick oats, or process old fashioned oats until partially ground

1-2 cups powdered sugar

Melt butter and chocolate bars in a double boiler.

Process oats, if using old fashioned.

Blend oats with chocolate/butter mixture.

Pause a bit.  Let the mixture cool slightly.

Mound into balls onto wax paper-lined sheet pan.

Place pan in refrigerator to chill.

When they are chilled enough to handle, remove from refrigerator and put a generous amount of powdered sugar in a bowl.

You may need to reform the balls a bit to make them round.

Roll in powdered sugar.

Lovely chocolate noels~snowy chocolate-almond confections :).
